A Campaign for Health Care Excellence is committed to funding advances in
technology as they emerge, keeping pace with changing health care needs.
Innovative Medical Technology will be funded, including:
- A Video Conferencing Network to improve access to specialists across BC
- Digital Mammography
to improve breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment
- Image–guided surgical equipment, making surgeries less invasive
- Digital Imaging Systems, allowing for more effective diagnosis
- Advanced CT Scanners,
improving diagnosis of many life-threatening diseases and serious trauma cases
- Advanced Patient Information Systems for Maternal Care,
improving patient care for the region’s mothers-to-be
Cancer Research, Patient Care and Education Programs - $1 million
Funds raised will ensure that Fraser Valley residents have the same opportunities
to benefit from highly trained health care professionals and participate in the same leading edge research as all other BC patients. We are committed to funding three primary cancer program areas:
- Educational Opportunities for Cancer Care Professionals to attract,
support, and retain thought leaders in health care research and practice
- Clinical Trials Research Programs will investigate new treatment
options for a variety of cancers such as breast, prostate, and colorectal
- Hereditary Cancer Program, a provincial Program, offering
genetic testing and counseling for families most likely to be afflicted with cancer
