Improving health and social care isn’t easy — but you don’t have to do it alone.
Whether you’ve got an idea or are already working to improve health and social care in your community, the Right Care Challenge helps you grow your impact and scale what’s working.
Over 12 months, this flexible, open challenge gives teams across Canada a chance to win monetary awards, grow their impact, celebrate their progress with peers, and be recognized for helping ensure people get the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
What is the Right Care Challenge?
The Right Care Challenge supports health and social care organizations to launch or enhance initiatives that ensure patients receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place—all while helping reduce pressure on the healthcare system as a whole, including avoidable emergency department visits.
It’s a Canada-wide call for ideas and projects that can grow and help more people, with support and recognition along the way.
Whether you’re focused on improving access to primary care, transforming the workforce, promoting community health, or delivering innovative care models, this is your chance to amplify what works.
How does it work?
Participation is easy and you decide how and when to participate, with opt-in activities that match your team’s interest and availability.
After registering, you’ll have opportunities to win awards by telling us about your work, the impact you’re achieving, the reach of your efforts and the data you share.
You’ll also have opportunities to:
- Get expert coaching to address challenges, sustain improvements and plan for long-term success.
- Use proven tools and evidence-informed resources to implement and measure what works — including when sharing your data throughout the challenge to demonstrate impact and qualify for monetary awards.
- Participate in virtual learning and networking where you'll share knowledge, learn from peers and achieve more together.
A proven model for impact
This isn’t the first time Healthcare Excellence Canada has supported system change through open innovation. The Health Workforce Innovation Challenge brought teams together from across the country to tackle workforce challenges. With HEC’s support, they achieved extraordinary outcomes — and the Right Care Challenge builds on that success.
Here’s what past participants had to say:
- "It's inspiring to be around colleagues, an unbelievable opportunity to be part of something across Canada."
- "[HEC] helped us do something with limited time in a resource strapped environment."
- “We wowed our health system with what we [could] do."
