The Canadian Northern and Remote Health Network (CNRHN) brings together senior decision-makers, leaders, policymakers and practitioners, to develop effective and sustainable solutions to improve healthcare and the health status of people living in northern and remote areas of Canada. Members enhance their leadership and improvement skills by sharing learning, innovative ideas, tools and resources.

Healthcare Excellence Canada partnered with Canada Health Infoway, the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada to spread the adoption of two proven innovations that had substantially increased access to primary care specialty services.

Through the Enabling Aging in Place collaborative, 26 health and social service organizations worked alongside older adults, care partners and community partners to strengthen locally grounded, person-centred approaches shaped by lived experience and real-world conditions. Together, they advanced practical ways to bring care closer to home and support people to live safely and well in their communities.

Enhancing Integrated Care helps primary and community care delivery organizations strengthen integrated team-based care models, including virtual care, making access easier and easing pressure on emergency departments.

Essential Together was designed to support the safe reintegration of Essential Care Partners into health and care settings, during COVID-19 and beyond.

EXTRA™ is Healthcare Excellence Canada’s team-based, bilingual, action-oriented leadership development program that supports ongoing system transformation. It focuses on building the capabilities of leaders to improve quality and safety in healthcare.

Explore how patient safety, cultural safety, engagement-capable environments and health equity are interconnected and together shape healthcare excellence. This self-paced learning module introduces the Foundations of Healthcare Excellence and provides practical tools, reflection activities and discussion opportunities to help you prepare for the learning modules that follow.
