Healthcare Excellence Canada is now accepting applications for a new collaborative focused on advancing promising practices that enable older adults with health and social needs to age where they call home, in the community, with formal support.

Today we’re announcing the new Chair and Vice-Chair of Healthcare Excellence Canada’s Board of Directors, as well as one new Director.

As World Patient Safety Day approaches on September 17, this year’s theme of “Engaging Patients for Patient Safety” highlights the vital role patients, families and essential care partners play in the safety of healthcare. In the spirit of this year’s theme, we as patient partners are sharing our reflections and identifying opportunities to make care as safe and high-quality as possible.

What is the Health Workforce Innovation Challenge? This 12-month open innovation challenge is designed to support healthcare organizations and their teams in experimenting with innovative ideas and new solutions for the retention and support of their current workforce.

After welcoming 10 communities across seven provinces to participate in the first cohort of Improving Equity in Access to Palliative Care in 2022, Healthcare Excellence Canada (HEC) and the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (the Partnership) are inviting additional communities to join the collaborative. Expressions of interest are due by September 15 and full applications are due by October 25, 2023.

Healthcare Excellence Canada is now accepting applications from teams across the country for a new program focused on improving equitable access to safe, high-quality team-based primary care in northern, rural and remote communities.

Today, Healthcare Excellence Canada is welcoming primary care practices, organizations and multidisciplinary teams from across Canada to Partnering on Appropriate Virtual Care, a program that helps care providers and patients work together to ensure virtual care is provided in an appropriate, safe and equitable way. There are 41 teams making up a total of 135 sites in nine provinces participating in the program.

At Healthcare Excellence Canada, we work with partners from coast to coast to coast to catalyze knowledge-sharing, best practices and innovation. We support building the capacity of teams of healthcare staff in a wide variety of organizations to do their best possible work. Our goal – as we work with and for folks across the country – is to help shape a future where everyone in Canada has access to safe, high-quality care.
